International Workshop on Planetary Health in Medellín

October 29, 2024

This summer, our team had the privilege of attending the international workshop, “Repensando la Salud Planetaria: Hacia un Enfoque Transdisciplinario, Sistémico, y Político” (Re-thinking Planetary Health: Towards a Transdisciplinary, Systemic, and Political Approach), organized by the School of Public Health at the Universidad de Antioquia in Medellín.

Global partnerships are at the heart of our work, and our collaboration with the City of Medellín is a testament to that. Over the years, we’ve partnered with a range of stakeholders, including the former mayor’s office, to support participatory planning, climate resilience, and inclusive community development. To learn more about our previous work in Medellín, explore our research on Place and Health Equity.

At the workshop, we joined inspiring colleagues such asJoan Benach from Pompeu Fabra University, alongside representatives from academia, business, civil society, and government. Together, we discussed the critical intersection of the climate crisis and human health, with a focus on community-driven solutions and participatory democracy to achieve transformative, sustainable, and equitable outcomes

A special thanks to Professor Eliana Martinez for bringing us all together and reminding us of the power of collective efforts in tackling the global challenges of climate change.
